Grooming
Smitten Kitten is the first cat only grooming salon in the Des Moines area. This means that as a cat owner, you are now able to obtain a specialized service for your cat! With our focus on cats only (no, we do not groom dogs at all) we are able to provide grooming that is catered to your cat and provide a less stressful environment for your cat with the absence of barking dogs.
Cats and dogs are very different animals, so there is no reason why they should be groomed in the same way. We do not leash or tie cats to a table because we find that this is an inappropriate way to handle most cats. We do not sedate any cats; it is not a necessary expense and it can be harmful to the cats long-term health. Cat grooming services include bathing, nail trimming, comb-out, ear cleaning, drying. We also offer teddy bear cuts and shaving the cat in a lion cut or to the owner’s specifications.
Grooming Options
The Bath & Brush is our most popular grooming option. Your feline will be expertly bathed, brushed, and blown dry for a soft and shiny coat. Every Bath & Brush treatment also includes nail trimming and ear and eye cleaning.
A lion cut is a great option for long-haired cats during the warmer months or for a long-lasting treatment for cats that would otherwise require extensive brushing. In addition to being easy-to-maintain, the lion cut also provides many owners with endless hours of entertainment.

A teddy bear cut is similar to a lion cut except that your feline's fur will be left somewhat longer than a lion cut. While this treatment will remove a significant amount of fur from a long-haired cat, it will still leave approximately 1/2" of coat which may be preferable during colder seasons.
